Lian Xue shares fragmented visions of the Abyss—a place of cosmic horror where souls are unmade. The true nature of the Harvesters' power begins to dawn on the Council.
The air in the holographic chamber crackled, not with the hum of projectors, but with a palpable tension that had thickened since Lian Xue’s pronouncements. The Elder of the Pure City, his face a roadmap of ancient sorrows etched into translucent skin, remained a rigid monolith of disapproval. Beside him, the Celestial Man representative, a shimmering cascade of chrome and sapphire light, pulsed with an impatient, analytical rhythm. The Gene-Aristocrat envoy, her form fluid and shifting like captured starlight, regarded Lian Xue with an expression that might have been curiosity, or perhaps the cold appraisal of a merchant assessing a rare, volatile commodity.
Lian Xue, however, was not looking at them. Her gaze was fixed on a point in the swirling cosmic map that still hung in the center of the chamber, a map now imbued with a sinister gravity. The ring of pure geometry, the Infinity Gate, seemed to pulse with a faint, internal light, a beacon in the encroaching darkness.
“You speak of a trap, Dr. Xue,” the Elder began, his voice raspy, like wind through dry reeds. “Of ancient farmers and their crop. But you offer us no proof, only fear. What is this ‘Abyss’ you warn us of? What horrors lie beyond the Gate of Returning Void?”
